Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has taken legal action against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. In his recent tweet, he revealed that he along with his wife Pallavi Joshi and Abhishek Agarwal has sent a legal notice to Mamata Banerjee for her recent defamatory remarks against his film ‘The Kashmir Files’. In his statement, he also claimed that CM with her statements intended to defame him and his films The Kashmir Files as well as his upcoming 2024 film.

Taking to his Twitter handle, he shared the images of the legal notice and wrote, “BREAKING:I have, alongwith @AbhishekOfficl & Pallavi Joshi, sent a LEGAL NOTICE to the Chief Minister, Bengal @MamataOfficial for her false & highly defamatory statements made with malafide intention to defame us & our films #TheKashmirFiles & upcoming 2024 film #TheDelhiFiles.” ALSO READ: Vivek Agnihotri To SUE Mamata Banerjee For Claiming 'The Kashmir Files' Humiliated One Section Of Society; Says ‘I Am Considering To File Defamation Case’

Vivek got into an ugly spat with Mamta after she slammed his film The Kashmir Files- based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits saying it was made to humiliate one section of the society. While announcing a ban on the release of The Kerala Story’, the CM had stated, “What is 'The Kashmir Files'? It is to humiliate one section. What is 'The Kerala Story'?... It is a distorted story. BJP is showing The Kerala Story, a distorted story. A few days back, some stars funded by BJP came to Bengal, and with some distorted and concocted story, they are preparing Bengal Files.”



In their notice, ‘The Kashmir Files’ makers have asked the CM to prove the allegations she has made against their film or else withdraw them and tender an unconditional apology. And, if she fails to do so, they will be taking further legal action for defaming their reputation in the public. Earlier, Vivek had threatened to sue Mamata saying he is considering filing a defamation case against the CM.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee had recently imposed a ban on 'The Kerala Story' in the state as she asked the cinema hall owners to pull down the film to avoid any incident of hatred and violence. The film's producer Vipul Shah slammed the ban and said they will take legal action against the TMC government.
